Last year, I posted a blog on predictions for 2009. My first prediction did not do too well – that I would blog more. Having said that, I sure did micro-blog much more via twitter and facebook. I also mentioned a revenge of the rich-client, and I believe I was fairly accurate on that.
However, in 2010, I believe the focus for developers will be on creating the best user experience – regardless of platform. With the release of Visual Studio 2010, the early adopters will likely embrace great UX strategies, creating a healthy competitive atmosphere. This push for a great end-user experience could be what drives organizations to migrate or adopt .NET 4.0 sooner than later.
The economy is still a factor as it was in my post last year. My prediction is that developers will continue to assert themselves for more productivity. As a trainer, I have interacted with many developers who have confirmed that there is no slacking at the desk. In addition to productivity, I believe developers will also be more innovative in 2010.
2009 was refining year for me personally. With more clarity and focus, I hope that 2010 will prove to be opportunistic and rewarding.
